Sample formula for Priya Raman: 1 visit

Formula · Sep 29, 2026 · Redken

Priya Raman

1 visit

Steps

Toner · Shades EQ Gloss

Toner on the highlights Aim 8.5, tone to 9

15–20min

  • 09NBIrish Crème×1
  • 09VPlatinum Ice×1

Shades EQ Processing Solution · 1 : 1

Check at 15 min. Rinse once the yellow is gone.

Why this bowl

Why 09V beside 09NB
The babylights lift to a yellow 8. The violet in 09V takes the yellow out, and 09NB keeps the result soft beige rather than ash, as in her photo.
Why 15 to 20 minutes
Her ends are porous from the last lightening, so a demi takes fast there.

How it works

The formula is ready before your client is in the chair. For a returning client, the consultation fills in from the last visit.

  1. Step 1: Take two photos

The look they want and their hair today.

  2. Step 2: Answer the consultation

History, condition from root to ends, gray %, and upkeep.

  3. Step 3: Get the formula

Every bowl in your line, with timing, what to watch for, and why.

Every choice, explained

Each bowl says why it picked those shades, that developer and that timing. Agree, or change it before you mix.

  • Shades and parts
  • Developer and mixing ratio
  • Processing time and what to watch for
  • Strand and patch tests to do first
  • Whether it takes more than 1 visit

Permanent · Koleston Perfect ME+

Roots Cover 30% gray at 7

35min

  • 7/0Medium Blonde×1
  • 7/1Medium Ash Blonde×1

Welloxon Perfect 6% · 1 : 1

Regrowth only. Stop 1 cm short of the last color.

Why this bowl

Why half 7/0
At 30% gray, a pure ash goes flat and green-gray on the white hairs. The natural base covers them.
Why 6% and not 9%
She's already a level 7. Same-level coverage needs no lift.

What stylists say

“I don't need it to do my color for me. I like that it shows its math. When I disagree with a bowl, I can see exactly why.”
Jo MarchettiColor educator, Salon Nove, Chicago
“Retouch clients are one tap now. Last formula, same timing, mixed before she's gowned.”
Marisol VegaIndependent stylist, Studio Vega, Austin
“I stock Wella, and the shades are real Koleston codes. That's what sold me.”
Keisha BrooksOwner, Brooks & Co. Hair, Atlanta
“It told me her ends needed a strand test before I'd have thought of it. The test agreed.”
Dana OkaforColorist, Row House Salon, Portland
“A three-visit copper to blonde, and it picked up visit two exactly where we left off.”
Lena HartSenior stylist, Hart & Hollow, Denver

Frequently asked questions

How accurate are the formulas?

It reads level, tone and condition from the two photos and your answers, and writes each bowl in shades your line actually makes. Every bowl shows its reasons, so you can see where it read the hair differently than you and change that bowl. When it can't tell, it asks for a strand test first.

Which color lines does it work with?

Redken (Shades EQ Gloss, Color Gels) and Wella (Koleston Perfect ME+, Color Touch), with real shade codes. Pick the lines you stock, and it formulates in those only.

Do my clients' photos stay private?

Yes. Photos stay on the client card in your account, and only you can see them. They're used to write that client's formula and nothing else.

Does it replace my judgment?

No. You read the formula, change any bowl you disagree with, and record what you actually mixed. The client card keeps what you mixed.
